Hey everyone,

Thanks to everyone who saw us play at our house, we had an unbelievably amazing time! Sadly, (drummer) Alex is departing the Bay Area next weekend, so it looks like The Margins are going to be on a bit of a hiatus in the mean time. I already paid for 3 years of hosting on this domain, registered this band name on a ton of those fancy social networking sites, and am definitely not giving up my practice room in the TL, so I’m pretty confident I’ll be forced to pick all this stuff up again soon. Alex is off to show LA how it’s done, and he’ll definitely be missed by the people that live in the house and share the practice room with him, but the man has some dreams and he best go chase them the fuck down!

Thanks again, all of you loyal readers should be hearing from me again soon!

Thanks to everyone that came out to El Rio, it was a total blast. Everyone there heard a new song we’ve been working on for a while now, and I’m pretty confident in saying it’s the best one we’ve done so far. So we hope you liked it!

Hey everyone!

Thanks for coming out last week! It was a total blast, not too shabby for our first paid show. We actually have a pretty sweet video of it floating around that one of us will post up here sooner or later. Right now it’s a 2.5 gig avi, so we’ve got a little bit of work to do.

So now we go back to practicing and writing new things, we hope to see you all again soon!

After an uncountable amount of hours spent in our cramped practice room trying to patch this recording together, we’re finally putting it up for the public! Basically, I re-recorded everything so many times that I forgot what was what, and started to actually become counter-productive. You know how it is. Anyhow, you can download it by clicking on this little badboy, or by clicking on that nifty “music” link right above this, or if you aren’t ready to make that kind of commitment, you can even just stream the whole thing by using that player at the top of the page.

Basically, what you hear on this album is exactly what will be played live. There is maybe a total of 30 seconds of music on this entire album that can’t be reproduced exactly in a live setting with just the two of us. I totally caved on a couple of backing vocals, but actually most of the backing vocals can be done live, so if you like harmonies, you won’t be disappointed!

Oh yeah also, in case anyone wants higher quality rips of this, we have FLACs that are actually higher than CD quality. Everything was recorded at 24 bits with a 96 kHz sampling rate (CDs being 16 bit at 44.1 kHz), and these FLACs maintain the original bit depth and sample rate. The only catch is that you have to email us (alexo@themarginsmusic.com and alexw@themarginsmusic.com) to arrange a way to grab them, because they’re pretty beastly. And if anyone is seriously this dedicated, we also have all of the individual tracks for each song in the high quality lossless FLAC as well, but those you’re really really going to have to get from us in person because I don’t think gmail will let you send an email with a 1 gig attachment. Not yet at least.
